Spring reverb anyone?

By Sebastian, 10 January, 2013

Hi! I'm about to order and built a Stella Amp.
There's a question I would like to ask first.

Has anybody modified or extended the Stella Amp with a spring reverb like this?

I was wondering how I might be able to integrate this schematic into the Stella design.
This design uses the 386 amp. I don't want to make the sound worse with such amp on the input....

Thanks!

I have not heard of anyone using a spring reverb with a stella kit.

I think for this application there shouldn't be any problems with using an LM386. A spring reverb unit takes a LOT more power to drive than one would expect, and I'm pretty sure an LM386 based circuit would work.

(Here is another more complicated reverb circuit, for reference: http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/Schematics/Reverb/Polyfusion%2… )

Hi John,

this looks interesting. Thank you very much. So with "LOT" you mean that such application won't be suitable for 9V battery operation? That I better built such reverb in an additional box and plug it inbetween guitar and stella amp?

A little Reverb simply has to be, hasn't it?

By a lot I mean a surprising amount, more than I suspected when I first started trying to use one. But an LM386 ought to work.

It's a pretty simple circuit, and the parts are cheap. Just go for it. Let me know when you build it and whether or not it works!
