Large Format Photography

For years and years I have been fascinated with large format photography. I have even taken a few large format photographs, but I've never make it a regular part of my photographic life.

In the early years of my interest, I had no money, and no equipment. Slowly, through purchases, yard sales, and even the occasional miracle dumpster find, I eventually acquired more and more pieces of large format kit. I now have everything I need to take and develop photos, but everything is in a mess of boxes scattered around the house, and I have never put everything together all in one place to make it all happen.

So on this page I'm going to talk about what I have, and what I need to do to make it all happen. Think of this as a series of notes on how I am doing the work. This is a going to be more for myself than anything else.

Developing

For developing film and 5x7 paper, I use a Unicolor Uniroller paper drum.

Chemicals:

200ml barely touches the bottom of the vanes without wetting the film

180ml: recommended paper developer

400ml: reported amount of film developer that a person can use while developing film without causing any edge effects or weirdness

recommended: pre-wash, because it's easy
