Heavy Metal Turns 40

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Heavy metal music turns plus or minus 40 years old this year depending on how you define it. In honor of this, I’ve collected together a few Youtube videos from heavy metal’s early years. Enjoy!
Lucifer’s Friend – Ride in the Sky
Uriah Heep – Sunrise
Deep Purple – Fireball
Budgie – Breadfan
Led Zeppelin – Communication Breakdown

Taking some time off

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

I’m taking some time off for an internet vacation. What happens when I take an internet vacation? I stop updating all of my webpages and stop reading most of the sites I read on a regular basis. In addition, I become next to impossible to contact over e-mail, because I read e-mails [...]

I have an affinity for nitrous oxide that you cannot respect more

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

A bit of judicious googling this evening and I discover that I was listed as the Minnesota Blog of the Day for May 16th by the City Pages on “The Blotter” (which is their blog like thing). The nitrous oxide incident they refer to was recounted by me here. At any rate, [...]

Ch-ch-ch-changes

Wednesday, August 10th, 2005

I added a feature to CBA I’ve wanted for quite a while now: robotwisdom.com style mini-posts. They display inline, just like kottke.org’s remaindered links.
The (0) displays the number of comments each link has, but I’m open to any formatting suggestions. Ideally I’d like a way of differentiating mini-posts by author [...]

Changes

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Unless you only read this blog in an RSS reader (or screen scraper), you’ve probably noticed the layout changes the missing comments box on the sidebar. Alas, it disappeared during the upgrade. Yes, we’ve been dragged kicking and screaming into the Century of the Fruitbat (in Wordpress terms, anyway) by the lastest XML-RPC [...]

Artificial Intelligence update

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

Just wanted to let you all know that I haven’t forgotten about it, nor have I been slacking off. My wife’s birthday was a few days ago, and my mother-in-law and sister-in-law are both arriving tomorrow for ValleyFair foofiness and general sightseeing. Plus Peggy and I are going to Michigan for a family [...]

RSS feed trimmed

Wednesday, February 16th, 2005

I trimmed the 8 eyes RSS feed to only return the ten most recent posts, rather than every single post, ever.

Bad luck sometimes comes in twos

Monday, January 10th, 2005

A couple of days ago both of my computers died, totally independently of each other and for vastly different reasons. I’ll spare you the gory details.
Expect posting to be light for quite a while as I’m fairly certain that the two computers died in such a way as to make it extremely [...]

New tactic against Trackback spam

Friday, January 7th, 2005

Hmm. I’ve confirmed that all of the really bad spam we’ve been getting over the past couple of days is Trackback spam. I have no idea why we’ve been getting hit so hard, but whatever. Currently, there aren’t any solutions for WordPress which address Trackback spams effectively (that I know of), which [...]

Comments back to normal

Friday, January 7th, 2005

Okay, I think I fixed the problems I was having with my spam plugins. Carry on.
