Talkbox/vocoder update; link roundup
A new effects box from Electro-Harmonix works more like I expected a talkbox to work: you plug in an instrument and a microphone and it mooshes your vocals to be in tune with the instrument. But that’s not all it does, it also can create vocal harmonies that follow what the instrument is doing. It’s pretty foofy, and I can’t stop watching the video (via boingboing):
And, how about a link round up:
- Crazy interview with a former adware author “I got to write half of it in Scheme, which probably means that I deployed more Scheme runtime than anybody else on the planet.” Wow. (via waxy.org)
- Songsmith. You sing into the microphone and it comes up with a backing track, which is about as cheesy as you expect. On the other hand, it has the chord information right there in the software which is mega-cool. Don’t miss the demo video, which is equal parts funny and horrifying. (via kottke)
- Dinosaur comics on chess
- Kids say the darndest things!
