Things that amuse me (a continuing series)

For some reason, people get enraged when you agree with them, but only in part. This amuses me. How about this one: I think the Bush administration has made some terrible, tragic mistakes in Iraq, mistakes we’ll be paying for for decades. But, I also think Dick Cheney is a great guy and I’d love to have lunch with him. See? You almost picked up your mouse to throw it at me, didn’t you?

My experience with evil people is that they are usually mostly good. It just that small amount of evil or just plain callousness that makes them so bad. As long as you are not on the receiving end of their evil, I’m sure they can be wonderful people. After all, isn’t it common for all the neighbors and friends of psycho-killers to say, after the deed has been done, that he/she had been such a nice kind-hearted guy/girl?

I’m not even sure why Dick Cheney is considered evil. Unless it’s because he’s a Republican who doesn’t pander to the Left? That might be it. In any case I’d love to have lunch with him too.

Left? What left? This is America! We don’t do left! We only have right and further right!

Oh wait! I just looked on the Political Compass website and there are actually two slightly left candidates for the presidential primaries. Pity they don’t have a chance. If you are not a right-wing nutjob, you just can’t make it in American politics.
