Talk about a screaming headache
Weird new theory that nerves communicate using sound waves (”The physical laws of thermodynamics tell us that electrical impulses must produce heat as they travel along the nerve, but experiments find that no such heat is produced.”)

The comments on the Slashdot post that covered this (at least when read at +5) are pretty interesting. I don’t have the background to know whether the commenters know what they’re talking about or not, but the consensus seems to be that the CBC article is a gross misrepresentation of what the scientists are really saying. I also can’t decipher the original paper, but I don’t think it’s really saying that nerve paths use sound waves instead of electricity.
By the way, the CBC is a little slow on the draw on this one. The “new theory” is about 2 years old.
