Between odd noises, expensive gas, and a general feeling that it was about to fall apart I decided it was time to move on from driving the van I was given (free was a good price at the time). Now, for the first time in my life, I’m driving something smaller than a pickup. I now own a silver 2002 Chevy Malibu. My current estimate is that I will be saving $1500- $1800 a year on gas even more if gas prices keep going up. (there is no such thing as fuel economy when driving a beat-up ‘91 Astro) I’ll have to watch the numbers at the pump for a bit to see what sort of mileage this new one really get but the estimated is 29mpg on the freeway (which is most of my driving) this compares to the van getting 13-15mpg depending upon its mood. When I get a chance I’ll put up the obligatory dorky picture of me and my new ride.
