Harry Potter Liveblog (no spoilers)
I just bought the new Harry Potter book and will be reading it throughout the day. I read through page 56 in the parking lot and the clock on my computer says it’s exactly 1:00 pm.
I’ll keep spoilers out of my comments and will only reference page numbers, if you want to follow along. (Thanks to some abject retards on the internet, I already know what happens in the book so no need to post spoiler comments here.)
1:00 p.m.: page 56
2:00 p.m.: page 181
3:05 p.m.: page 326 (man, this book is kind of a downer… still good though.)
4:11 p.m.: page 468 (This isn’t a joke; for some reason for the past half hour I’ve had “After the Rain” by Nelson going through my head. No connection whatsoever to the book (which remains really good), but I just thought I’d share.)
5:28 p.m.: page 652. (done.)
Hmm. Good, but I think I liked book five better.
(Sorry my “review” is so short but I despise reading reviews about things before I see the movie or read the book in question. So I’m not too good at writing them.)

See. you do read faster than I do. It took me about an hour longer than
you to read it.

hmm looks like 4 hours and 53.17 minutes or 2.224 ppm by my math

At first I thought ppm was parts per millions. I didn’t get it. I got it now.
Maybe when I get the new book I’ll time myself to give you all a perspective on slow reading.

I’ve been reading bits to my 12-year old and 9-year old sons, and my 12-year old has been reading ahead without me. I’ve just read the part where Harry has had his little chat in the Weasley’s garden with Rufus Scrimgeour, and has refused to be co-opted in the Ministry’s PR campaign. I don’t understand why the left hasn’t launched a “Scrimgeour is Bush” meme.
