Hot tip, act fast

Office Max has the HP 2400 scanner on sale for 45 dollars, with a 40 dollar mail in rebate. The Coon Rapids store, one of only three stores in the Twin Cities which has any left, still has two of them on the shelf, so if you call first thing in the morning you might be able to get them to hold you one.

I got mine, it works pretty nice. Comes with a USB cable too; I was surprised because so many hardware manufacturers are leaving those out nowadays.

*nod*. It even has a little button for copying! Plus it’s over 20 pounds lighter than my current scanner.

    Er, old scanner even.

Ah. It’s not a USB 2.0 scanner… it just says “Compatible with the USB 2.0 specification” on it. I wish they would have come up with a better name for the faster USB spec than USB 2.0 because everyone misuses the name. Anyway, it’s still a pretty good scanner, it’s smaller than the one I had before, so it’s easier to use and I’m plugging it into my computer and actually using it.

usb 2.0 or not shouldn’t matter much. it can only transfer data as fast as it scans it anyway. which I doubt is fast enough for the usb speed to make a difference
