Follow the incentives
Anyone who says that health care reform is simple is deluding themselves. I know that in the past I may have implied as much, but I feel that I should point out that I don’t think there will be any easy solutions.
Whatever you think should be done about health care, you should read this article on the subject. This is an article which points out problems, not an article which offers solutions, not even indirectly by only pointing out certain problems. It was sobering for me to read this with my proposed reforms in mind; to realize how little some of my favorite plans or programs would help with some of the problems given in the article.
It’s fun to play follow the incentives; whenever a change is made by the government, by a doctor, by a health plan, whatever, I asked myself how that change is going to affect other people’s behavior.
