iTunes tip

If you have tons of unrated songs, create a smart playlist with all of your unrated songs, and enable live updating. Then, (here’s the tip) use that playlist as a source for party shuffle. This way you can rate the songs as you hear them, and party shuffle won’t automatically quit playing your song and remove it from your playlist once you rate it. Since party shuffle keeps the last 5 songs you listened to, if you miss one you can catch it later. When your rated songs scroll off the top of the screen, they never show up again, and if you miss some or want to defer rating some songs until later, they’ll show up again in party shuffle, eventually.

Brilliant! I’ve just been listening to my generic playlists and trying to remember to rate songs that are unrated. Now I know all the songs I’m listening to are unrated and I can just rate them straight off. Now I just have 186 Electronica/Dance tracks to rate! (ugh)

Ahhhh, now I see what you’re saying, John. I hadn’t looked at the Smart Playlists. I’ve been doing this by hand, but this is far better!
