Our rice steamer
Peggy and I got a rice steamer as a wedding present. The past couple of days I’ve been putting it through its paces, and I’ve got to say, it’s pretty handy.
Of course it makes rice really well, but it also makes perfect hard boiled eggs!

I’ve always wondered - can you ever *over* cook hard boiled eggs?
I mean you can only ever heat the egg up to 100 deg. As long
as there’s still water in the pot you can’t really burn them, right?

Rice cookers rock.
And you can overcook hard-boiled eggs. They get that icky green ring, and they get dry and gross. The burning comes when you put them in a pot on the stove and forget about them. The water boils off and the eggs burn. Not a pleasant smell.

Jon: Remember the hardboiled eggs in Kenya? Those were overcooked. The yolks get that yucky green color and the funny smell. If you do it right, the egg yolk should be bright sunny yellow.
