Suite!

Our trip to Tucson was great. Really perfect. It was hotter than I remembered but on the other hand I finally realized that the light in the southwest really is unique. Especially at sunset. When we got there on Saturday the first thing that we did was go to Cracker Barrel for lunch. We’ve been seriously Cracker Barrel deficient since moving here. We also went to Wal-Mart! I even called Jenn to brag about going to Wal-Mart, a supercenter no less! When we got to the hotel we were pleasantly suprised to find out that we got a free room upgrade to a suite. Free! It was great. I think Devin liked the special access key in the elevator. Like everytime we had to use the elevator it was like, “Yeah, special access baby!” Then we had a big fancy dinner at Anthony’s in the Catalinas. Va-va-voom! I wore a new dress and Devin wore his suit. The service at the restaurant was beyond compare. I can’t help but list all of our courses:) We started out with cocktails, a blood orange martini for me and a gin and tonic for Devin, with a smoked salmon mousse, compliments of the chef. I had a “Salade Caprese” which was a nice yellow heirloom tomatoe with fresh mozzerella and basil chiffonade topped with olive oil and Devin had something good with shrimp. We ordered a bottle of wine from the huge wine list and were sipping on that. We were also served Fiji water non-stop. I had fruit salad with lots of fun fruit and Devin had cream of escargots and fennel soup. He ate snails:) He said they were similar to mussels. Then for an entree I had chicken cordon bleu and Devin had lamb wellington. After dinner we were served a special lemon digestiv, compliments of the chef (again) and then we had dessert with coffee. Devin had a layered chocolate cake and I had puff pastry with mascarpone cheese and fresh fruit. The whole time there were people filling water glasses, wine glasses, folding our napkins when we left the table, pushing our chairs in for us, and just in general attending to our every dining need. Devin requested Paul McCartney from the piano player guy too. It was out of this world! The next day was July 4 and we putzed around and visited some of our old stomping grounds with the air blasting in the car, did some shopping, and had some mexican food. Since we had a balcony or whatever on our suite we picked up a couple of super tall cans of beer and watched the fireworks displays from there. It was so cool. There were like 3 different displays we could see. On Monday we came home.
