From Above
On Sunday we went to the grocery store and I really had to go to the bathroom. As I was walking to the tiny hallway where the bathroom was located I saw 2 teenage girls headed there too and since the store only has one single bathroom per sex I knew I was in for a long wait. We formed a little line. The two girls were laughing and chatting right along. Then the next girl in line went and left just me and one other young teen girl standing outside the bathroom. Just staring at the wall waiting. Then she turned to me and said, “Are you, like from California? I mean, do you like live here?” She was around 14 and had brown hair that was pulled up in a pony tail with some tiny curls hanging out at the back and she had on glitter on her face and pink lipgloss. She looked so fresh and hopeful. I told her that I live here and she said, “This is just the greatest place. I want to live here so bad.” Then there was a breathy pause…, “I’m from Utah.” I asked if she was here on vacation and she said she was on a mission but then added, “I don’t mean to offend you but I’m not Mormon.” I said that was okay and asked what other states she had been to and she said Nevada, Washington, Minnesota. But she liked California most of all. When she told me how great it was here and how much she liked it the expression on her face was blooming with vitality and happiness. I think that God put us both outside the bathroom so that I could feel good about living here and my situation.
