5.2
Hey long time no post! I’ve been extraordinarily busy at work and just haven’t had time. Which is definitly okay…it sure beats the first couple of months we were open when I’d seriously get 10 (ten) transactions a day. I’m kindof a people person and really like talking to the customers so my days go by a lot faster when I get more than 10. In the meantime, we’ve just been working and chillin’ at home. Nothing big. We got to visit with Tiphaine a little while back and it was nice to just spend time with her. It’s a real comfort when you can be with friends and not have to be doing something the entire time. An added bonus to the trip was trying her mom’s ‘Strawberry Meringue Pie.’ It was a meringue shell baked in a pie plate with crushed saltines in it. She sliced it and passed sliced local strawberries (with no sugar) and lots of fresh whipped cream to top the meringue. I wasn’t expecting the perfect balance of flavors and textures! So simple yet so complex, compelling, and captivating. Tiph’s mom graciously gave me the recipe. That next week I made the pie with a berry mixture of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries with awesome results. Then that weekend was Memorial Day weekend and I made it again with all the mixed berries. *Sigh* I just love summer produce. I love midwestern summer produce the best but…Cali’s not bad.
The other sorta big news was our 5.2 earthquake yesterday afternoon. I was at the bank and thought it was the wind at first but after a minute I could tell the movement was coming from the ground. It didn’t last for very long and we (my co-workers at the bank) were all shocked. I hope it’s not like the first tiny quake preceeding a huge quake…I saw ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ a couple weeks ago. :)
