The glut
I got 2 Depo shots yesterday! I hate getting shots. It’s one of those irrational fears I have. Other irrational fears include scary possessed dolls that can move about on their own, spiders, people following me up the stairs, and hanging my foot or hand over the side of the bed at night. The nurse that was giving me the shot has great needle skills and the last time I got a shot from her it was painless and I was happy that she was going to give me this one. So first she had the wrong needle, the one she had was for “the glut.” After getting a smaller needle for my arm she made small talk about my plans for the weekend and I was so proud of myself for not hyperventilating and freaking out about the needle being in the same room as me. I could rest easy because the special needle nurse was administering:) Then she gave me the shot and it started to hurt a little and I tensed up, which was bad because when she took the needle out blood and pinkish ooze started pumping out of my arm. “Oh, no. It’s leaking out. That’s never happened before. Your arm is all red,” she said. I told her that I have sensitive skin that gets red if I just scratch it and she went to go get a doctor. The doctor and the nurse were looking at my arm and talking about how many cc’s might have leaked out, I guess they were trying to decide if I might get pregnant because I didn’t get enough depo. “Better safe than sorry, ” said the doctor. “I guess I’d rather give you another shot so you don’t get pregnant,” said the nurse. Well since I don’t want to get pregnant either I was all for another shot, this time in the glut. It didn’t hurt at all. I wonder if extra depo will affect me…? Probably not in any weird Sci-Fi channel way. I probably won’t get ESP or anything.
