Scallion Pancakes

I’m completely shocked. The manager here at the branch has resigned, quit, just left. He got an offer he couldn’t refuse to work at another bank just down the street and he took it. All of my co-workers are now buzzing about who the new manager will be, what we’re going to do in the meantime, what is corporate going to do…I doubt anyone is worried about losing their job we’re all thinking about the other stuff. He was a good guy and he went to bat for me a couple of times when I got into jams. I’ll miss him a little but it’s not like we were great buddies.

Oh, well.

I’m reading ‘1984′ right now and all I want to do is eat chocolate. Just because I can. Just because it’s not rationed out to 20 grams per person per…uh, week or whatever. When I read books I start to crave what the person in the book talks about a lot. I just picked up a new detective series and the main character eats a lot of chinese and it always sounds so good, but she always eats stuff I know I wouldn’t touch like scallion pancakes from a street vendor or some kind of fish in garlic sauce. ‘Angela’s Ashes’ make me crave toffee but a friend of mine was hooked on bread and jam while she read it. Hinky.
