Swimsuits and flowerstands
So, I’m at work. I’m always at work when I post because I have so much free time at work and a really nice computer that I do everything I want to do on the internet and stuff here and never have to touch it (a computer) at home. The weather is all nice and springy outside and since it’s Saturday there are no landscaper-guys mowing the grass and making everything smell fresh and clean. It’s too bad, the only thing missing really. That happened to me the other day when I was leaving for work with my huge cup of coffee on my way to the car, the landscape guys were out mowing or trimming grass and I wanted to throw all my work crap on the asphalt and run off to play. When I was a kid I would just spend so much time outside on days like this. I’d go to the little store kinda early, sometimes I’d be out crusing around on my bike waiting for it to open so I could buy some junkfood. I’d cash in my beer cans and then spend like 30 minutes making a selection. I must have drove Jane, the owner, crazy. Then I’d go to the dock or the sand pit until I could decently drop in on my only neighborhood friend Jaime. We’d play in the tree house, go swimming, ride bikes, go to the store again, go to the sand pit, play in the woods, and sometimes we’d set up a flower stand on the corner by her house. We never got much business but then again all the flowers were free anyway and when the end of the day finally rolled around Jaime’s parents would come by and admire all of our arrangements and buy us out. I don’t think I would take my swimsuit off all summer. On rainy days we’d do crafts inside or maybe play waitress or teacher. Jaime was better at waitress because we would be making up all this stuff that our customers were ordering and she went to more restaurants than I did so she was always serving shrimp scampi and chicken cordon bleu while I was serving…shrimp scampi and chicken cordon bleu (I’d copy her and she’d get so mad!)
I hope when we have kids we live someplace safe and they can leave the house at 8:00 and not come home until dinner. It would be great if we lived by a lake and some woods…
