I’m so forgetful…
… that I’ll post about my new job everywhere on the internet except to my own weblog. I started on Tuesday. The week before, I applied on Monday, had two phone interviews on Monday, on Tuesday I got a call to come in for an interview, interview on Wednesday, and I found out I got the job on Thursday. It’s really fun; I’m doing computer programming using C# and the .NET framework, tiny software company, relaxed atmosphere, I got my own office and a kick-ass development machine (Hyperthreaded 2.8 Ghz P4, with a 120 gig SATA HD, 1 gig of ram, and dual monitors (19 and 17 inch CRTs), driven by passively cooled Radeon 7000s, so it’s relatively quiet too.
The negative aspect: the commute. It’s well over 50 miles… on the other side of Minneapolis. So I’ve been getting up at 5:30 am, and going to bed at 9:30 pm to avoid the rush hour traffic. Tomorrow (hopefully) I’ll post a photographic essay of my first week on the job.

Wow, congratulations!
Your new work computer sounds significantly sweeter then my new work computer. (Mine is a dinky-little-case HP Desktop)
That sure is a long commute to do every day. Will you think about moving to make it better?

Welcome to the joyous life of the commuter. You get used to it…kinda.

Does this mean you’re going to donate money to my car fund now? Maybe now that you’re working you could buy yourself a new one and just, um, give me your old one? I’m sure that’s what you want to do……

So. Proud. I hope you’re making a ton of bank! Don’t even trip about the commute, bud, just cash the check.

Speaking of my car, it’s been groaning and complaining mightily, and I just got everything refixed up on it. Basically, it doesn’t want to go and it doesn’t want to stop. The stopping thing I’m fixing with a brake job next paycheck. But I think the not wanting to go thing is going to be with me for a while now. Stupid 4 cylinder engine in a 3000 pound car.
(Please forgive the rough sentence structure; I just got home and I’m too tired to edit my words properly)

“Please forgive the rough sentence structure; I just got home and I’m too tired to edit my words properly”
That *so* describes the state of my blog lately.

does that mean you won’t give your car? sigh, I went through a bunch of lots today and the sub $3000s were more or less non existant.

Corey: you need to go to rural minnesota, or rural wisconsin, or rural anywhere not near a huge city with tons of teenagers snapping up the cheap cars.
