Used theology…

A few days ago, mom and I went to the cities and then to Stillwater to run errands and stuff. The night before, I told mom that I would go hang out at the used theological bookstore in Stillwater while she went to her exercize class.

“Wow… used theology!?” she said incredulously.
“Well, that is the best kind,” I replied. “You know, the kind that gets used.”

She continued to be pretty amazed by the concept of “used theology”, but by the next day it became “Okay, while I’m at Pilates, you’re gonna go look for a used God,” which… well, whatever. That’s not the point of this post.

This is. (203k)

When I walked in I was like, well, okay, it’s a bookstore, you know? It’s a theological bookstore in an old church. (”We’re the largest used theological bookstore in North America (and in January, the coldest!)” the sign says when you walk in the door.) But when you come in, you don’t see the whole thing because there’s lots of bookshelves up in the balcony and you’re coming in underneath it. It was a good five to ten minutes before I walked up the stairs, and then I got to the top of the stairs and gasped. “I’ve gotta take a picture of this… but how?” I asked myself.

Then I remembered seeing a picture of Wrigley’s Field that was pretty darn cool, and I began to think about doing the same thing with the bookstore. Since I foolishly forgot my camera, I had to come back the next day. Of course, the next day I forgot my little cable to transfer the pics from my camera to my laptop, so I was rather limited in what I could do. 4 megapixel camera + 128 meg flash card == :(

I have a few other standalone pictures that I’m not done editing yet, and possibly one more mini-photocollage from a different vantage point, but I’m posting this now anyway.

(Idea credit: I knew I had seen the original pic on Pixel Pile, but I was having a hard time finding it. I couldn’t even remember which piler took it to begin with. I tried searching for baseball, and ball, and wrigley’s field, and variations on that theme. Nothing. I don’t remember how I found it eventually, but I did. Turns out it was by Phineas, and he’s actually got an entire page of these photocollages which are all way better than my crappy one.)

The collage is indeed cool. Now, when you go back, find a used copy of some Greg Boyd. ;)
