Linkage: I read the internet so you don’t have to
I tend to open links in new windows and then forget to close all of the browser windows. When I go through and mop up, I usually find interesting things. Some interesting things I found since the last Linkage post:
- Ten Quotable Moments: Challenges and Responses for UI Designers. Remember what I said about the boxes and arrows site last time? Well, here’s an article I found on that page that I like.
- Why can’t we buy a Chinese house at Walmart? Be sure to check out the comments too; some of the commenters bring up good points. “Right now it would probably be cheaper to buy a bunch of TVs and superglue them together to form a house than to pay American contractors to build one for you. That’s what I think is the unsustainable situation.”
- 50 Reasons Lord of the Rings Sucks. Legolas shoots arrow after arrow at his enemies, and yet the number of arrows in his quiver never decreases. I guess elves have glands on their back that secrete arrows.
- NIST’s Dictionary of Algorithms and Data Structures. This would be fun to have an offline copy of on the laptop so I could browse it before bed. (That probably explains a lot about me.)
- Career Calculus. < ----- read this.
- Eigenradio, or What Happens When You Jumble Up the Spectrum.
- Don’t miss this Orson Scott Card article: Ideological Labels — What Do They Mean? (Answer: pretty much nothing.)
- Military hand signals Shit, I think he was on our side!
- Drug Use Impairs Ability to Learn from Future Experiences Huh? Future experiences?
- Hipster Bingo
- Satellite view of North and South Korea at night (Or, why communism doesn’t work on a large scale)
- A flash animation which claims to tell the REAL story behind the moon landing (The audio is NSFW)
- LJ Times, a “news” page generated every half hour with random AP photos and exerpts from random livejournals.
- What if school were like a really bad job?
- Advice on choosing a martial arts school
- How to find a good dojo
- AikiWeb: The Source for Aikido Information
- NY Times recipe for buttermilk herb salad dressing (scroll down) >

Yeah, you can sorta make out a slightly lighter dot where Pyongyang is but that’s about it.
