Back from Lee and Kim’s wedding

Just got back from Lee and Kim’s wedding. Pictures to follow. (Eventually.)

For those of you playing the home game, that’s 10+ hours of walking around at the State Fair in one day followed by 10+ hours of driving/sitting in a car in the next, with 5 and a half (me) to 7 (Peggy) hours of sleep in between.

Highly NOT recommended.

(I wanna make a little tivo thing for my car radio. Do you know how few commercials there are at 2:00 am? I heard ZERO in 35 minutes of radio listening. That’s the ticket: record the radio early in the AM and play it back when you’re driving your car the next day.)

It took you that long to go through the State Fair?

Yeah, we were gone for about 10 hours — we did walk there and back from Peggy’s apartment, which was 1.5 to 2 miles away. But we didn’t even “go through” all of it, at best we hit maybe 50-60 percent of the stuff that was there during one day. We didn’t even touch the midway, for instance. There are also lots of changing, daily State Fair events: radio stations will have live bands performing at their booths at various times during the day, there are the nightly concerts at the Grandstand, etc. so even if you did go past every single booth/exhibit/demonstration, you’d still miss things. We saw a dog obedience show, sheep shearers, a giant dancing robot, people doing stupid things with motorcycles, a dance competition, people demonstrating how to spin yarn, etc. A couple of years ago they had a full veterinary surgical team set up in a glass booth and the vets would operate on dogs and cats and people could watch.
