Papilio glaucus   (see all of John's photos)

This is the first documented sighting of Papilio glaucus (Eastern Tiger Swallowtail) in Chisago County, Minnesota. (More information here, although they haven't updated their map yet.) I took this photo back in July 2003, but stumbled upon it a few months ago. I came upon butterfliesandmoths.org while trying to identify the species, and it looked like there wasn't a confirmed sighting for an eastern tiger swallowtail in Chisago County. The expert in butterflies for Minnesota looked at my photos (I had a few other versions of this picture) and he confirmed that it was, in fact, Papilio glaucus.
